A hairline crack is narrow and fine; can be shallow or quite deep; occurs with the movement of underlying materials; can also develop as a result of sudden or disproportionate changes to intensity, duration, frequency; is more common in women; causes the bone to be more susceptible to fracture or break; can indicate serious structural damage.
Mira Dayal is an artist, critic, and curator based in New York. She is the founding editor of the Journal of Art Criticism, co-curator of the collaborative artist publication prompt:, and an assistant editor at Artforum. Past exhibitions include Anagen at Lubov, Object Intimacies at NURTUREart, Material Metaphors at NARS Foundation, and Volley at Abrons Art Center, New York. She has been in residence with Art in General in Brooklyn and A.I.R. Gallery on Governor’s Island. Her current studio work employs membranes, metaphors, fibers, and scrolls; she often works collaboratively.
